The history of land is as old as the history of human being. I fact the earth which houses the land came into existence before man and it was accordingly made for the benefit of man, because of the valuable nature of land to human existence, laws were made to ensure its sustainable use. These laws were carefully examined and it was discovered the laws are actually made to protect and sustain the use of land but the enforcement of same are not religiously done. This work also observed that the same set of laws could also be put in use for sustainable environment. It was further revealed that, control and management of land under the Land Use Act does not really ensure sustainable use of land especially the resting of land in the hand of Governor and the Local government Chairmen. The study revealed that this system had unnecessarily made the political war lord. Consequently, the study made recommendation for the amendment of the Land Use Act and of other legislations as discussed in the work so as to enhance sustainable use of Land in Nigeria.
