Media and Communication Currents

Media and Communication Currents is a journal devoted to intellectual thinking, based on historical, epistemological, methodological, theoretical, and technical/policy discourses and expositions on any aspect of media and communication. The journal provides an effective platform for dissemination of vital information to educators, students, practitioners, and the public on issues affecting communication and national development.

This volume of Media and Communication Currents has twelve articles that examined media and communication issues from different perspectives. The empirical work by Akpan examined the impact of Transnational Broadcast of European Football Leagues on the Migration of Footballers of Nigeria’s Elite Local Leagues.

Danjuma, Agir and Dansoho analysed Risk Communication and the Coverage of COVID-19 Pandemic by Selected Nigerian Newspapers. Still in the light of COVID-19 issues, Pate, Yar’Adua and Msughter, looked at Public Awareness, Knowledge and Perception of Covid-19 in Tarauni LGA and Kano Metropolitan Area of Kano State, Nigeria.

Uchenna and Greg delved into the frame analysis of Hate Speech issues in Selected Nigerian Newspapers.

Wokemezie, analysed cases of Media Ownership, Political Party Affiliation and Objective Reporting in Nigeria.

Martins Luke, Chima, Chinaza and Williams in this period of increasing need for media trust, examined Journalists Perception Journalists in Imo State on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in Nigeria.

Alom, Ogah and Dogo examined an important environmental/health communication issue by looking at Public Awareness and Knowledge of Approaches on the Campaign against Open Defecation in Benue State.

Touching on new media and public relations issues, Ayodele and Atanda examined the Use of Website and Social Networking Sites as Public Relations Dialogic Tools in Universities in Kogi State Nigeria. Similarly, Gapsiso looked at ICT and Governance: Driving Public Service Productivity through E-Government in Nigeria.

The recent EndSARS protest in Nigeria necessitated the work by Iyorza in which he examined Human Media and Behaviour Change Communication Trajectory of Calabar Youths’ of Cross River State in the EndSARThe

In this era of banking transformation in Nigeria Kuru and Nsirika examined Public Perception of Customer Relations Practices for Sustainable Patronage in Access and Polaris Banks in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Bassey examined Audience perception of the credibility of AKBC Radio and Planet FM in the coverage of 2019 elections in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

This volume of Media and Communication Currents is another interesting collection of intellectual thoughts and contributions to media and communication scholarship.
